Terms and Conditions

Version 1.1 · Effective from 2026-07-18 · Last reviewed 2026-07-18
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these terms.

1. Who we are

Canine Capabilities is the trading name of Kirsty Addy, a sole trader. We provide dog training, behavioural consultations, training walks, puppy and behavioural packages, digital resources and a client portal.

Trading and correspondence address: 41 Flowitt Street, Doncaster, DN4 0FL.
Phone: 07756 152646 · Email: kirsty@caninecapabilities.co.uk (cancellations and complaints included).

Canine Capabilities is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices. Full public liability insurance is held; details are available on request.

2. Services and packages

Services are supplied as individual sessions (behavioural consultations, one-to-one training sessions and training walks) or as packages containing a set number of sessions and walks with a defined support period. The sessions, walks and support period included in your package are shown to you before you commit, in your written confirmation, and at any time in your client portal.

Package entitlements are recorded as credits in your portal. A credit is reserved when you book, used when a session is completed, and returned when a session is cancelled in line with the cancellation policy below. Credits are specific to their type: a training-walk credit cannot be exchanged for a one-to-one session, and vice versa.

3. Booking and confirmation

Sessions you request through the portal are requests until we confirm them. You will receive email confirmation, including the exact date, time and free-cancellation deadline for the session.

4. Cancellation and rescheduling policy

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. A cancellation, rearrangement or non-attendance occurring less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time will normally incur a £50 late-cancellation administration charge, capped at the price of the affected session.

Where a late cancellation occurs: your session credit is not automatically forfeited in addition to the charge. Every late-cancellation charge is reviewed before it is final; we may reduce or waive it — for example where we are able to re-fill the appointment, or in the event of a genuine emergency (such as bereavement, emergency hospital treatment, or a veterinary emergency). You will always be told the final outcome.

Withdrawing a booking request that we have not yet confirmed is free at any time.

5. Your statutory cancellation rights (distance contracts)

Where you buy services from us online or otherwise at a distance, you normally have 14 days from the date the contract is made in which to cancel it, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If you ask us to begin services within that period, and later cancel, you may be required to pay for the services already supplied. If a service is fully performed within the cancellation period at your express request, you acknowledge that the right to cancel that service is lost once it has been fully performed. Digital content: where you ask for immediate access to digital resources within the 14-day period, you may lose the right to cancel in respect of that digital content once access begins.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these terms. Nothing in these terms removes or reduces rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable law.

6. Behaviour and safety information

Behaviour work depends on accurate information. You agree to disclose, and keep updated, any known bite history, aggression, guarding, escape or chase behaviour, relevant health conditions and medication, and any legal restrictions applying to your dog. Training and behaviour outcomes depend on many factors, including consistency of handling between sessions, and specific results cannot be guaranteed. Nothing in this section excludes or limits our liability for our own negligence.

7. Training methods and equipment

Canine Capabilities uses reward-based, welfare-centred training methods. We do not use, and will not work with, aversive equipment or methods — including, but not limited to, prong collars, shock collars (e-collars) and choke chains.

8. Fees and payment

Prices for sessions and packages are provided to you before you commit. Packages are payable in full, upfront, unless Kirsty explicitly agrees an alternative arrangement (for example, where a client’s insurance arrangements do not allow for upfront payment).

9. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please tell us. You can raise a complaint through your client portal or by email. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and to provide a substantive response within 20 working days; if we need more time, we will explain why.

10. Privacy

How we handle your personal data (and your dog’s records) is described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Photography and video

We only use photographs or video of you or your dog with your separate consent. Each use — internal training review, education, social media, website or print — is an individual choice you control from your client portal, and you can withdraw future marketing use at any time.

12. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continue to apply.
